This shop was designed by the industrial designer Eiji Mitooka, who is well-known for designing the Kyushu Shinkansen "Tsubame". In this relaxing space filled with curves, wooden bookshelves are aligned to give a sense of warmth. Wandering through the aisles is like walking on a path, and looking at the books gently lit by LED lights, you can surely find the book for you.

The general information center, opened in 2010, has been expanded. The concierges will introduce you to the traditional shops of "Nihonbashi, the town of hospitality", and, in addition to guiding you through the routes to visit the town, they will explain touring spots with a huge map on the wall. "Nihonbashi Takumi Shop", selling products made with the techniques and dedication of artisans, and "Nihonbashi Ippin Café", offering drinks and sweets in collaboration with old and famous stores, have also opened.

Nut Confectionary

A praline shop delivered by a bean confectionery store opened in 1945. Pralines are a traditional French sweet made by caramelizing roasted nuts. Kyo-tsukemono Nishiri

Japanese Confectionery

Funabashiya

This Kuzumochi store was established in 1805. Made from steamed wheat starch which had been lactic acid fermented for 15 months, Kuzumochi, with its exquisite texture, is the only fermented food among Japanese confectionery. The founder came to Tokyo because of the prosperity of the Kameido Tenjin Shrine. The Kuzumochi, made using the high quality wheat of the founder's hometown Shimosa (in the northern part of Chiba prefecture), gained popularity among pilgrims and became one of the specialties of Edo. Ever since then, the ingredients are examined with "omotenashi spirit", and the original recipe is still followed.

Kelp

Okui Kaiseido

This high-quality konbu (kelp seaweed) store has its headquarters in Tsuruga, Fukui Prefecture, established in 1871. As purveyor to the Soto school of Zen's main temple Eihei-ji, from the Taisho era to the beginning of the Showa era, it started business with the luxurious, traditional restaurants of Kyoto, such as the one of artist Rosanjin Kitaoji, and its reputation as a literal high-quality konbu maker remains firm. The "Kuragakoi konbu" is particularly famous, made by harvesting the Rishiri konbu that grows naturally at Rebun Island and Rishiri Island in Hokkaido, and aging it for two or three years in special konbu cellars to improve the delicious taste.
